This year, the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program is celebrating 50 years at GW! Join us for several events celebrating WGSS. Register for each panel and the lunch separately below.


50th Anniversary Symposium

Alumni, faculty, and students are warmly invited to two in-person panels and a lunch reception. A hybrid option is available for the panels. Our location might change; please confirm before arrival. There is visitor parking at the University Student Center garage on H Street between 21st and 22nd streets.

At 10AM, our Yulee-sponsored panel, "State of the Field" features Clare Hemmings (Professor of Feminist Theory, London School of Economics) and Jennifer Nash (Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies, Duke University). Register for panel 1.

At 11:45am, current and former WGSS directors will celebrate 50 years of our program's history.
Featuring: Dan Moshenberg, Cindy Deitch, Kavita Daiya, Nemata Blyden, Jennifer Nash, Barbara Miller, and Ashwini Tambe. Register for panel 2.

Alumni Reception

At 1:00pm, all alumni, students, and faculty are invited to a lunch reception. This reception includes an open mic segment when alumni are welcome to share their memories. We will devote a portion of this time to celebrating Professor Daniel Moshenberg, who, like Professor Deitch, is retiring at the end of this semester. Lunch registration is required by March 27th separately at [email protected].

We are proud to celebrate Professor Deitch as the inaugural recipient of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS) award honoring women who have contributed to diversity, equity, and inclusion at GW. This celebratory luncheon will take place in-person in the Elliott School in the State Room (1957 E St NW, Washington, DC 20052). Alumni are invited. Registration is required at [email protected] with your name and number in your party. Registrations will be accepted through March 17.
