Catherine Hill

Catherine Hill, Ph.D. (she/her), is a scholar of women's rights and gender with more than two decades of leadership in government, nonprofit organizations, and academia. Dr. Hill served as Vice President for Research at the American Association for University Women, Study Director at the Institute for Women's Policy Research, and Policy Analyst at the Women's Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor. Most recently, her work has focused on state legislatures, including serving as the Executive Director of the Women's Caucus of the Maryland General Assembly and later the Maryland Legislative Alliance for Women (MLAW).   Her publications are widely cited in academic journals and featured in media outlets, such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and National Public Radio (NPR).

Early in her career, she was an assistant professor at the University of Virginia and taught in the Women's, gender, and Sexuality Studies Department (WGSS) at George Washington University for more than ten years (nonconservative).

Dr. Hill earned her PhD at Rutgers University and holds undergraduate and master's degrees from Cornell University.
