Congratulations to Dr. Kavita Daiya on her book, Graphic Narratives about South Asia and South Asian America: Aesthetics and Politics (Routledge) being published in a paperback version! This is the first edited volume to present scholarship on comics that links South Asia and South Asian America, and to address some of the most profoundly urgent issues of our time, from gender-based violence, authoritarian politics, refugee experience, caste discrimination, environmentalism, racism, urban street, globalization, and political repression. In the introduction to this volume “South Asia in Graphic Narratives,” Professor Daiya argues for decentering the Euro-American focus of Comics Studies as a field, through a comparative engagement with graphic narrative works from around the world. This edited volume dramatically expands the international ambit of conventional Comics Studies, as well as that of global Anglophone literary studies.
